Donate to Help Theresa get on her feet & recover from Spinal Stenosis, organized by Taber KeOhunani Ohana (2024)

Aloha friends, (updated 05/15/2024)

We come to you with a heartfelt plea on behalf of my beloved wife, Theresa-Lynnette Keohunani Taber. Theresa recently underwent her second major procedure in the past four years, a successful discectomy surgery involving two separate incisions on her middle and lower back to alleviate spinal pressure. The road to recovery has been challenging, and we now need collective support to help her regain her strength and mobility. Unfortunately, the medical costs associated with her recovery, including essential ADA equipment, exceed what our family can manage alone.

Theresa was med-flighted from Hilo to Oahu at the end of March 2024 for her surgery at Queens Hospital. Since then, she has been dedicating herself tirelessly to rehabilitation in Honolulu. However, due to "narrowing of the spine" which caused mobility issues in her left leg and then led to a fractured pelvic bone from a recent fall, has slowed her recovery. Her doctors and physical therapists estimate she will require at least 45 additional days of rehabilitation before she can safely return to Hilo to continue her medical care and appointments.

To facilitate Theresa's transition back home and ensure she can access her appointments and rehabilitation services, we urgently need to make some adjustments to our home before her return. Theresa requires a new 30' foot ramp kit for the stairs & deck leading into our home. This ramp will provide her with the necessary mobility to navigate in and out of her home to make all her important upcoming medical appointments. She also needs other ADA equipment & supplies that will help prevent falling and provide adquate in-home care for a successful outcome.

Your support can truly make a significant difference in Theresa's journey towards recovery. Whether you can contribute financially or assist in purchasing the items she needs, every bit of support is deeply appreciated.

Theresa is eager to resume her online podcast, "Office of Hawaiian Despair," where she shares vital news and updates about Hawaii and various island issues. Your kokua (help) can bring back the "Office of Hawaiian Despair" and support her healing process by allowing her to reconnect with her passion for community service.

Your prayers, thoughts, and contributions are invaluable to us during this challenging time. Please consider donating to this campaign or sharing it within your networks. Together, we can help Theresa regain her mobility safely and effectively.

Mahalo Nui Loa (thank you very much) for your ongoing support and Aloha.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Gerald Taber (Husband)
