An Activity for Building Teaching Potential Designed on Community of Practice Cooperated with Lesson Study

This paper proposes the development of an activity based on the community of practice (CoP) approach in collaboration with lesson study to enhance teaching potential. The CoP approach is utilized to elicit teachers' experiences and facilitate the sharing of teaching guidelines, while the lesson study method enables small groups of teachers to collaboratively design, teach, reflect on, and refine a class lesson. Drawing from semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, documentation, expert field notes, and focus groups, the proposed activity consists of four key components: 1) principle, 2) activity objective, 3) learning activity, and 4) learning evaluation. The learning activity encompasses four steps: educating, innovating, implementing, and reflecting. In the age of rapid growth in technology, language education policies in the education system must proceed with a progressive and inclusive vision. Intercultural communicative competence (ICC) is also integral for language learners to avoid miscommunication and become knowledgeable of individuals with a myriad of ethnicities and beliefs. This study aims to examine the method of incorporating ICC with digital storytelling in English as a foreign language (EFL) class to promote inclusivity among multilingual students through an extensive literature review and reflection on English teaching in Thailand. Economics is a subject offered at the Further Education and Training (FET) section in South Africa, the subject has recorded performance that is not impressive, and the low enrolment and statistics of pass rate are of major concern. Therefore this paper explores the teachers’ content knowledge and strategies used to teach Economics in some selected schools in South Africa. The paper adopts a qualitative approach to phenomenological research design. Purposive sampling techniques were used to select 12 teachers from six schools, two teachers from each school in Buffalo City Municipality in East London, South Africa. A semi-structured interview was used to elicit information from the respondents. This research aims to conduct an experimental study to apply a model of flipped classroom pedagogy (FCP) in selected Moroccan classrooms. This is to study its effectiveness in the local context, and to explore the possibility of investing the opportunities it offers to manage and optimize Alternating Teaching (AT), which was adopted during the Covid-19 pandemic to ensure educational continuity. This study adopted a semi-experimental design with a pre- and post-test, and utilized two groups (experimental and control) to evaluate the impact of FCP on AT performance. The study involved 67 students from two secondary school classes, 33 students in the Life and Earth Sciences (LES) class and 34 students in the Physics and Chemistry (PC) class.
