What is Sweet Butter?
Traditionally, American grocery stores tend to sell salted and unsalted butter. Unsalted butter (also called sweet butter) tends to be the choice of bakers because it’s easier to control the salt in a recipe.
This simple method for making sweet butter at home means you can take any butter in your fridge and turn it into a more decadent, dessert style treat topping… far beyond the sweet cream butter sold at stores.
If butter makes everything better, flavored butter creates the kind of joyful experience you’ll never forget!
Sweet Butter Ingredients
- Butter – Use salted or unsalted butter, softened. I prefer salted because I love how it balances the sweet. Learn how to soften butter quickly.
- White Granulated Sugar – Sweetens butter adding a little crunch! You can substitute powdered sugar if you prefer a creamier texture.
Variations
- Cinnamon Butter– add a teaspoon of cinnamon to create the ultimate cinnamon sugar butter spread.
- Chocolate Butter – Combine with cocoa powder.
- Strawberry Butter – In a food processor, combine large strawberries, add butter and sugar and pulse until smooth.
- Orange Butter – Add a teaspoon Grand Marnier and one tablespoon orange zest.
How To Make Sweet Butter
- Prep – Soften butter.
- Combine – Combine butter and sugar until smooth in a small bowl or stand mixer.
