These are adorable! The little eggs are perfect. Such a great idea for Easter.
-
Allison says:
Did you use unsalted or salted butter? Also, did you use all purpose four?
-
Cyd says:
Hi Allison. We used salted butter, but we have used both in the past. We used all purpose flour.

These look good!
-
Megan says:
These are SO adorable! Does the frosting stay soft? I'm wanting to mail my sister some cookies, I just don't want it to be a mess when she opens them haha
-
Cyd says:
Hi Megan. These cookies are so good. I like the cookie bottom, but my girls are big fans of Cadbury eggs. The frosting on these cookies sets up pretty well, but it's not hard. It's a soft frosting that sets up. I hope that explains it. Ha Ha!!

Nina says:
Will the frosting be ok if made a day before? How would you store them?
-
Cyd says:
It works best and is easy to spread if you make it and then frost the cookies. Store the cookies in an airtight container. If longer than a day, maybe store them in an airtight container in the fridge.
-
Nina says:
I am sorry I worded it wrong. If I make the cookies the day before Easter will that be ok. Also do you think if made a week ahead would they freeze well?
-
Cyd says:
:) Sorry about that Nina. They should be fine a day ahead. Put them in an airtight container so they stay soft. They should freeze just fine. Have a great weekend!
-
Nina says:
Thank you!!!!!!!!
-
Giordana says:

-
Cyd says:
We just used regular granulated C&H sugar. Hope this helps and your cookies are great for your Easter weekend.
-
Judy says:
How many does this make?
-
Cyd says:
It makes 24 cookies.
-
Kris says:
Can you use jam in this recipe instead?
-
Momma Cyd says:
Yes, you can fill your thumbprints with whatever you like.
-
Lindsey says:
So excited to make these. Could I make the dough and have it chill overnight in the fridge before baking?
-
Momma Cyd says:
Yes, just let it set out for about 15-20 minutes before rolling and baking.
-
Karen says:
Should I use the dark cocoa (unsweetened) or the cocoa mix?
-
Momma Cyd says:
Dark cocoa that you use for baking.
-
Allyson says:
Does this gorgeous chocolate frosting dry enough to layer these cookies in a dish for a party?
-
Momma Cyd says:
Yes, you should be able to stack them slightly without messing up the frosting.
