Mushroom liquid culture syringes are a loved method of inoculation because of their ease of use, and quick colonization times. Liquid culture syringes are a great choice for both novice and experienced mycologists.

Amazon Magic Mushroom History

It is believed that the PES Amazon magic mushroom strain was first developed by a group called Pacifica Exotica Spora, hence the PES in the name of the strain. Pacifica Exotica Spora are believed to be the first ones to offer the spores of this strain to the masses.

When Pacifica Exotica Spora initially started to market the PES Amazon magic mushroom strain, they claimed that they developed the strain by crossing two types of magic mushroom strains known as Psilocybe cubensis and Psilocybe azurescens. Later on as cultivators tested the strain, they found out that the claims of the strain being a hybrid between Psilocybe cubensis and Psilocybe azurescens were false.

Today, some people believe that the strain origins’ are from the Amazon Rainforest, where the strain would have been able thrive in the favorable conditions. It could be found growing in rich soil of the Amazon Rainforest where it was also used by the native tribes of the regions.

Growing Amazon Psychedelic Mushrooms

The Amazon strain is one of the most popular psilocybe cubensis for all types of cultivators. The speed of colonization and fruiting tends to surprise many cultivators. The strong and fast colonization amounts to abundant fruiting. When grown in conditions that mirror it’s birthplace, the Amazon Rainforest, cultivators may see yields that far surpass their expectations.

The Amazon mushroom strain could be the strain with the most positive feedback when it comes to ease of cultivating. Many mushroom enthusiasts have reported multiple successful flushes with the strain along with a considerable amount of fruits.

The Amazon strain is not a particularly picky strain, whether growing in a monotub or fruiting inside bags, the Amazon strain will be able to flourish. With a high level of humidity alongside our in-house optimized mushroom fruiting substrate, cultivating the Amazon strain could be quite an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Appearance of the Amazon Mushroom Strain

As a result of the rapid mycelium growth, the Amazon magic mushrooms generally have very thick and meaty stems. The stems of the average Amazon magic mushroom is roughly six inches. In the earlier stages, the stems are almost a bright white, but as the mushroom matures, the stems tend to turn to more of a pale-white color.

Relative to their thick meaty stems, their caps are quite small with a pronounced bump in the middle that resembles a nipple. Average Amazon magic mushroom cap sizes will be roughly 100mm+ in diameter. Once an Amazon psychedelic mushroom reaches maturity, their caps are a golden-brown-light-yellow color. Before maturity, during the fruiting stage, Amazon caps can be brown with an undertone of red. Most recognizable is the brown dot in the middle of the Amazon magic mushroom caps. This brown dot truly resembles a nipple.

Psychedelic Effects of Amazon Mushrooms

The Amazon magic mushroom is a very potent and spiritual strain. The Amazon mushroom generally has an above-average amount of psilocybin. The effects of the chemical compound, psilocybin, can affect everyone differently. Age, weight, diet, personality, expectations and metabolism can all affect an individual’s experience with magic mushrooms.

At smaller doses, users can expect more open-mindedness, and enhanced moods. A higher dosage can have much more powerful effects, strong feelings of euphoria, insights and memories, sensory distortions, mystical feelings of wonderment and a strong body high.

The negative effects of Amazon psychedelic mushrooms include: nausea that could lead to vomiting, anxiety and an extremely excessive amount of yawning. Although psilocybin mushrooms are relatively safe to eat, that does mean it is a risk free experience. Common side-effects of psilocybin include increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, dizziness, lightheadedness, shivers, chills and possibly numbness of the mouth.

FAQs

Which is better liquid culture or spore syringe? ›

Liquid Culture vs.

spores revolves around speed and diversity. Liquid culture accelerates mycelium growth, boasts higher success rates, and lowers contamination risks—ideal for beginners and seasoned growers. Spores, however, embrace genetic diversity, paving the way for a more organic cultivation process.

How long does it take for a spore syringe to become a liquid culture? ›

Under a flow hood or in a sterile environment, you can inoculate the culture medium with spore solution from your spore syringe. Within a week or two, the spores will germinate and mycelium will begin to colonize the liquid.

How long does liquid culture take to grow? ›

Allow the bag to fully colonize (turn completely white). This should take 10-14 days at warmer temperatures, or 16-21 days at temperatures around 70 degrees. Please research the specific species of mushroom you are cultivating in order to incubate at correct temperature.

How do I get more liquid culture? ›

To make liquid culture, mix a sugar source (like light malt extract or honey) with water, sterilize the solution, and then introduce mushroom mycelium. Use a canning jar with an airport lid for the culture and a pressure cooker for sterilization.

How long does it take for liquid spores to colonize? ›

Colonization. Colonization occurs after inoculation. This is when the mycelium will start to take over the grain that was inoculated with spores. This period usually lasts between 3 to 6 weeks depending on strain and environmental conditions.

Will spores germinate in liquid culture? ›

Unlike spore syringes, which require time for spores to germinate and develop into mycelium, liquid culture already contains this active mycelial growth.

How often do you stir liquid culture? ›

There are several opinions on this, but generally growers recommend swirling, stirring or shaking your jar once a day. If you have a very slow-growing strain, you may only need to shake it every second day when you see a clump or cloud of mycelium forming instead of small strands.

How long does liquid culture last at room temperature? ›

As a rule of thumb, we will store liquid culture at room temperature if we plan on using it within a few days to a week. If you plans on inoculation or preparing other materials in the mean time, it is best to store the liquid culture in the refrigerator to slow down the metabolism of the mycelium.

How many spores do you inject into liquid culture? ›

All you need to do is inject around 1ml of spores into the liquid culture vial, then shake.

How do you know if liquid culture is good? ›

That depends on how dirty the inoculate was with bacteria or if mold spores were introduced and how many. A good liquid culture will often be a tiny bit cloudy and then clear up.

Can liquid culture go bad? ›

Usage and Shelf Life

While liquid cultures can be stored for many months, we recommend using them within six months for the best results.

What does a bad liquid culture look like? ›

Usually bacterial contamination with liquid culture. The agar plate from a rotten jar will have an outline of the sample but no white mycelium. If there is any mycelium, it looks weak and poor and not white, aggressive and fluffy. Contaminated LC jars will be cloudy and smell sour.

How can I speed up mycelium growth? ›

The higher the inoculation rate or amount of spawn added to the substrate, the faster the mycelium will grow through the substrate. The substrate likely will not produce a larger amount of mushrooms, so a high inoculation rate means more money spent on spawn per pound of mushrooms.

What is the best temperature for liquid culture? ›

Liquid culture is best stored in the fridge at 2-4 ° C once the syringes arrive. The syringes can be stored unopened in the fridge for up to 3 months. Liquid culture syringes that contain Pink Oyster mycelium should not be stored in the fridge. Pink oyster mycelium do not fare well is stored cold long term.

Do liquid cultures need air? ›

I try to fill my liquid culture jars fairly close to the top, leaving about 5cm (2 inches) of air. This will make it easier to draw liquid out with a syringe and it also allows for some evaporation. It's also a good idea to add something to your jars to break up the mycelium.

How long does liquid culture spores last? ›

Usage and Shelf Life

While liquid cultures can be stored for many months, we recommend using them within six months for the best results. In our experience, liquid cultures of nearly any variety can grow even after a year of storage in the refrigerator.

What are liquid cultures good for? ›

Liquid cultures can be used to make your own mushroom grain spawn. By using liquid cultures you can easily inoculate grain to make spawn with less exposure of the sterilised grain to the open air.

Can I use a spore syringe to make liquid culture? ›

While the above process is a tried and tested way to create liquid cultures, those looking to forgo this method can find a much simpler way using pre-made spore syringes and liquid culture vials. All you need to do is inject around 1ml of spores into the liquid culture vial, then shake.

Is liquid culture the same as multi spore? ›

(YIELD AND MUSHROOM SIZE POSSIBILITIES)

When done correctly Liquid Culture tends to grow much bigger yields and bigger fruits because it already has its genetics established. When using spores you will have a variety of different size mushrooms growing per flush. it's your job to clone the best one!
